PATHWAYS by Nikki Davidson-Bowman

The BlackShed Gallery | 8 November – 22 November

Private View Event Saturday 8th November, 2:00-4:00pm

This exhibition at The blackShed Gallery is a journey along a bumpy path, that you are invited to walk down, where you can explore collage, poetry, print, performance, small installations, sculpture and film.

Nikki is a conceptual artist exploring female stories of resilience and the precariousness of being human. Pathways explores autoethnographic experiences of navigating a neurological terminal illness, being a family caregiver and the subsequent journey through grief as well as a personal cancer diagnosis – experiences which can send shockwaves through your life plans and lead you elsewhere.

Nikki uses the ritualistic process of making to bring these, often marginalised and emotive subjects and experiences, out of the shadows.  She embraces the unpredictability of working with materials that like life, are difficult to control, allowing the work to evolve with chance outcomes, where the process of making is used to heal and restore.
